Empowering the Next Generation of Leaders
Summer 2025 Cohort
Ahead Academy’s Young Leaders Council (YLC) is a PAID summer leadership program designed for girls (ages 15-18) ready to get their first job but need a little extra support before making the plunge. Through hands-on mentorship, career readiness, and leadership development, the YLC equips young women with the skills to inspire and guide the next generation of Ahead Academy youth.

Participants meet weekly on Saturdays for 8 weeks and gain real-world work experience in youth mentorship, braiding, and entrepreneurship. Graduates of the program become eligible for paid employment as Program Coaches with Ahead Academy in the Fall of 2025.

Attendance-based stipends. We know it's summer time-Chi and there are tons of things you could be doing. So, to say thank you for showing up, YLC members will receive a stipend at the end of the program.

Employment opportunities. After completing the YLC program, you'll be eligible for employment with Ahead Academy, as a Program Coach, making $20/hour.
